Ive got some bad news for you dudes. Ive formed some thoughts about the new spidey but if any of you are not “marvel universe” savvy…some of the below info could be construed as spoilers. So dont read if your scared, you have been warned.
Something occured to me one day when I was thinking about the new Spiderman movie. I did some thinking and have watched the trailer repeatedly. Ive looked into every angle I could and I am now convinced there will be no Venom in this movie with the exception of possibly at the end. If you recall the story, the black suit is the result of PP (Peter Parker) using alien technology during the Secret Wars. This technology was basically a symbiote which attached itself to PP’s persona. After Secret Wars, PP strugled for years to remove the symbiote presence. When he finally did rid himelf of it (because it was exerting a negative influence) the symbiote attached itself to Eddie Brock. EB is something of a tragic figure in Marvel. He was a reporter/photographer like PP but he was jealous of PP’s sucess and then he somehow discovered PP’s true nature…Spiderman. Now he really hates PP/SM but then he and the symbiote become one (I wont explain how they met here) and the dual hatred of spidey combine to form…Venom.
Now here is what I think happens. They are only going to introduce the symbiote and EB in this film. They have 2 villians already (sandman and hobgoblin). I think at the most…at the end of this movie they will set us up for movie 4 by showing EB and the symbiote joining together. That will set the premise for what will be Spideys greatest fight ever………..Venom.
(and hopefully the last of the spidey movies)
People have been clamoring about the new suit saying “OH SHIT ITS VENOM TIME!!” when in fact I highly doubt there is any Venom action in this movie. Regardless, it is exciting but I know that I am going to be hearing people cry when it happens and there is no Venom.

if beauty sits the child’s kiss
Of Laughter I amend
Can you catch her if she runs?
With this I would share with you
All of this count to no end
Behind your sealed eyes you miss
All that I’ve done for you
Will you catch me when I run?
If timing plays evident
What would you say when you’re late?
Stay with me and fall asleep
Pray to god for no bad dreams
Here… I’m still waiting here, my dear
For one kiss from you
Here… I’m still waiting here, my dear
To kill all of you…

BERLIN — To the very end of his career, Zinedine Zidane could dictate the flow of play with rare skill and elegant control of the ball.
In the World Cup final, Zidane lost control of his temper.
The parting image for the retiring French captain will be him rearing back in anger, lowering his head and launching his bald crown into the chest of Italy defender Marco Materazzi after they exchanged words in extra time Sunday.
The game was tied, 1-1, when Zidane was given a red card in the 110th minute. Without their sharpshooting captain, the French couldn’t unlock Italy’s defense and went on to lose in a shootout, 5-3.

X-Men: The Last Stand……………the 10 Pound Review
X-Men, or X3 as some of us are calling it, is the first “blockbuster†summer movie I have yet to see. I waited for a myriad reasons; didn’t want to fight the crowds, wanted to wait to see it with my daughter, had better things to do, yada yada yada. Regardless of all the good and bad reasons I waited until a month after the actual release to see the movie. After seeing it, I apologize both to myself for waiting so long and for berating my friends who told me to check it out despite the bad (uber critical) reviews I had read. In a nutshell, I liked it. I left the theatre with a smile on my face and chuckle in my throat. To any who told me I was missing out, you are right and I was wrong to deny my inner X-Men fanboy because the movie left me wanting to dig out my old X-Men comics and even hit the local comic hole to catch up on what’s happening in the current X-Men universe.
Enough on my nerdiness though, lets discuss the movie. First off, I found it to be a hugely entertaining action movie. That alone is enough for me because I found the first 2 X-Men movies to be lacking in that area. They had to much story to fill and not enough mutanty goodness filling up my frosty mug to the brim with claws, lightning bolts, metal men, furry acrobats, walking thru walls, lifting shit with your mind, reading thoughts, manipulating metal objects, shooting fire (or ice) out your ass and other cool ass super-power type things. As much as I enjoyed the first 2 X-Men movies (#2 better than the first movie) I had gotten to the point where I wanted to step away from the storyline and political analogies and just see some ass kicking happen!!!!!
Moving right along into other things I liked about the movie…. people die! That’s right, either I’m psycho or I just appreciate some reality to such an intense situation. As Magneto said on more than one occasion, “it’s a war†and in a war, people die, mutant or normal, people die. Therefore, when the writers decided that certain (I wont spoil it) major characters had to die, well, I applaud that decision. It brings some tragedy to the emotional landscape being carved out that I really like. It allows me to really feel that the characters in the movie are also feeling so emotionally intense that they put their asses on the proverbial line.
Time to nitpick. Was the Phoenix storyline accurate? No, not totally, hell, not even remotely. Lets face facts though, in order for the fanboys to get their movie, they have to realize that some artistic leeway has to be taken in order to draw the kind of audience needed to support movies of this size and scope. Not everyone who is going to pay 9 bucks a ticket for this movie has a box of comics in their attic and knows the complete story line or can argue the finer points of the marvel universe among peers at a BBQ (ahem….Mike! that’s directed at you). Was there enough mutant goodness? Yes. Was there enough storyline or character development? No. This has to be done for times sake other wise we would get no story other than backstory. Lets face it again, every fanboy with that box of comics in his attic knows the characters anyway. I like to think of this as the film makers “tilt of the hat†to us, the comic fans who do know the story. Shit, I was tickled (yeah I said “tickledâ€) when Bobby Drake finally stopped shooting ice balls out of his hands and actually became Iceman in this movie. When Elizabeth Hurley is introduced as Moira McTaggert, I (and other fans) know the relevance of this, and I get tickled. I look at those little things as tiny tributes to the comic book fans that Ratner/Kinberg/Penn give us in exchange for the greater liberties that they take with the true history of the Marvel Universe.
Sigh………I am a huge nerd apparently. Hats off to Vinnie Jones for pulling off a Juggernaut a lot better than I ever thought he would. Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) looked great, acted better and I’m excited for her follow up. Raven Darkholme looked so incredibly good as a “normalâ€. Loved the black hair babe, call me!
8/10 stars
P.S. Hot damn, I’m ready for a Wolverine movie already!!!

A broad incision sits across the evening
The victim to our father’s lost war
The restless children sit and mourn the graves
Of those they’ve never seen before
Will they be buried here among the dead?
In the silent secret
The pioneers
In dealing with it they march for dawn… of will and worthy
The truth be told the child was born…
Man your own jackhammer
Man your battle stations
We’ll have you dead pretty soon
Sincerely written from my brother’s blood machine
Man your own battle station
We’ll have you home pretty soon
